Glassdoor proclaims GAS as one of UK’s best for employees’ work-life balance

Great Annual Savings Group (GAS) has been recognised as the UK’s joint 2nd best employers for Work-Life balance by Glassdoor.

One of the world’s largest recruitment sites, Glassdoor analysed millions of employee reviews on their platform to identify the top companies for work-life balance in the UK, as COVID-19 heightened the stress and turmoil people across the country face in and out of work.

Scoring an exceptional rating 4.9/5, GAS demonstrated their ability to prioritise the wellbeing and safety of colleagues, with home-working solutions and continued emotional support available throughout the period.

Victoria Walton, Head of Resource and Talent at GAS, felt the recognition was testament to the hard work and dedication of the Group throughout the year: “Aware of the impact the pandemic could have on the mental health of our employee base, we’ve taken a real ‘Our People First’ approach to everything we do.

“In what has been a testing time for everyone, here at GAS, the health and wellbeing of our staff has been our number one priority. It has been imperative that we look after colleagues financially, physically and emotionally.

“To be recognised in such a manner by a company as esteemed as Glassdoor is fantastic. But the fact that our score was compiled directly from employee’s feedback makes it that extra bit special.”

To top off a great few weeks for the firm, GAS was recently accredited with a 5-star rating by Trustpilot, acknowledging the “excellent customer service levels” provided to clients throughout the year.

Despite the challenges facing most UK businesses this year, GAS’s ambitious expansion plans have shown no sign of halting.  Welcoming a record number of new starters between August and October, the feelgood factor was also heightened following the recent announcement of a new partnership with East College Durham, a move which will see the creation of 100 new apprenticeships.

Paul JohnsonGroup Financial Director

Paul Johnson is very much a home-grown talent.

He joined Great Annual Savings Group in its infancy, fresh from a youth career as a professional footballer with Hartlepool United.  He quickly established a reputation within the business and aced all required accountancy qualifications in the space of four years to become the Group’s Management Accountant.

Several successful projects later, Paul was promoted to Head of Finance.  When the former FD left GAS, he took on the mantle of the business’ most senior finance professional; boasting a string of incredible achievements all under the age of 30.

“I have witnessed phenomenal growth at the Group over the many years I’ve worked here and I’m looking forward to guiding the Group into an exciting new chapter.”

Interesting fact:

Paul made his professional debut for Hartlepool United against Bournemouth in the Football League.  Some say Danny Ings still resides in his pocket to this day.
